You Are a Woman!
Hey Everybody! It has been a while. I hope everyone is doing well and coping with everything that has taken place in the world lately! This new topic has been weighing heavily on me, so I decided to take some time and talk about it. Body positivity is something that I have personally struggled with since I've gotten older. Many of you may ask why and I will be completely honest with you, it's because of false expectations and ideals.
In the world of social media, you're not beautiful unless you're a certain size. You're not beautiful if you don't fit the mold of an Instagram model and that is not true! Although I know this isn't true, I still struggle. I look at myself in the mirror being a curvy, black girl with boobs and thighs and think there's so many things I can't do or can't wear because I don't fit the "model" portfolio.
I know I’m not alone in this and I want to say that it's time to reject any negative thoughts or ideas about our bodies. I work out daily and although I'm nowhere close to where I want to be, I must remind myself that I am not going to be the size I was when I was in high school. I must learn to embrace how my body changes and transforms. I remind myself that I am beautiful just the way I am, and I am not defined by my waist size. It's a struggle, but it's so easy to get caught up in negativity. Don’t let anyone else’s perception of what you should be or how you should look define how you navigate through life.
Throughout this new chapter in my life, I aspire to inspire. I don't want to get caught up in inauthentic behavior. I want to make an impact, even if that means showing you that you're beautiful just the way you are - curves and all. Don't let anyone tell you any different. It's about time that we start practicing positive self-talk and realizing that we are exactly the way we're supposed to be!
Remember, self-love is the best love!
Until next time...
